She forgot?

Dr. McGinley seemed unaware that we have separate residency verification rules for Buist Academy until Diette Courrege brought it to her attention a few weeks ago. Now Dr. McGinley FORGOT to address these disparities with the board? Are you kiddin' me?

Let me give you a brief review. Buist is flooded with false addresses. The District 20 board turns the names in two years ago. The County board creates a new policy to send parents to jail if they use fake addresses. Nightline comes. Principals are overwhelmed with ridiculous paperwork. (That is, everyone except Principal Ballard at Buist...she's getting her hair done). The false address folks remain at Buist. No one goes to jail. No one is even fined. Why? Because the CCSD board creates stupid policies and then doesn't enforce them. We kick a few kids out of St. Andrews. All the while pretending we've addressed the problems at Buist.
Sorry, Dr. McGinley, I'm not buying it. We pay you too much to forget something like this. Maybe if we had a consequence (like denying your car allowance for a month), you wouldn't be so forgetful.
Those of us in District 20 won't forget. We're still waiting...

She can remember to discuss a policy which says the county school board can "expel" a recalcitrant member, but she can't remember to discuss a policy about verifying addresses at a school with a waiting list. And she expects us to believe she's not playing politics. Whose office spun the bad-word story after she said it was over? Who's trying to dabble in the use of the tar brush at election time in the South? This might go over in Philly, but at least one candidate has called her shameless move for what it is. McGinley is not only in over her head downtown by attempting to race bait the opposition...she's way behind the times.

Hey Underdog,
You're pretty good at identifying problems. And your attacks are right on, with a little venom added in. What I have not seen is any suggestions to solutions for these problems you identify. The last time I looked, offering potential solutions, no matter how far-fetched, was a positive step towards the resolution of issues crying to be addressed. However, the line of folks calling "foul" is seemingly endless.

Your points have validity, but they are redundant, lost in the pool of countless calls for attention to the same old problems of "it's not fair." Come on Underdog, break the cycle. Give us some insight we haven't heard.

I have tried to figure out who you are, without success. It's obvious you wish to remain anonymous. Therefore, I will offer my email if you'll give me yours. It would be awesome to discuss these subjects with someone who is not hiding.

2:12 AM! Gosh, Jon Butzon, don't you have better things to do at that hour? You make this claim all the time. Trouble is, you don't hear anything you don't want to hear. Many suggestions have been made. Solutions have been offered. CCSD (and people like you) just ignore them or put down the presenter as an uninformed outsider. Take a hike Jon. You and people like you (Dot Scott and Joe Darby) are just hired guns designed to cover the flanks of people who have no desire to change or improve our schools.

Given your end runs around all attempts to advance school choices, quality in the classrooms and integrity in the management of District 20 schools...All of them...you're the real hypocrite in this discussion. Go defend your white whine and cheese buddy, Toya Green, as she campaigns on her record of opposing charter schools for her neighbors. She enjoys the comfort of a guaranteed seat for her children at Buist in a lottery that has never been honest while Nancy McGinley sidesteps every question. There is no honesty in this. We have presented solutions. You just don't want to address them because you have no argument to counter them. Put up or shut up, Jon.

Why does it matter who I am? If I speak the truth and you agree, work with me. If you have connections, communicate the concerns. Forget the politics.
Solutions? Teach the kids how to read...no exceptions. Let them read in school. Forget PACT. JUST LET THEM READ. The knowledge will come from the love of reading.
AND kick all of those fake addresses out of Buist before we start school...no exceptions.
I'll leave it at that for now...

You are going to look foolish if that wasn't Jon Butzon.
