Go, Chicago!

Should we pack our bags and head to Chicago? According to an article in today's Post and Courier, over "1,000 Chicago public school students skipped the first day of classes Tuesday to protest unequal education funding..." Evidently in Chicago, they blatantly underfund their inner-city schools. So will someone here, please explain to me how it works in Charleston? According to the Post and Courier a few weeks ago, funding isn't the issue, yet we clearly don't have equal education.

That would be explained by accounting sleight-of-hand. We never see what goes into the final per student cost. Kind of like making hot dogs.

Whatever happened to County School Board Memember David Engelman's call for full financial transparency? And what happened to their promises to do just that made by Superintendent Nancy McGinley and Chief Financial Officer Bobby? Want to bet we won't see or hear anything meaningful before the November elections?

look the cost is uneven.
My child's school is Burn Elementary.
One room has had water damage twice. The mold is so bad they had to move.
I asked his teacher why she didn't use a smartboard.
There is only 1 in the school!
The police were there when I was picking him up. A girl was put car in handcuffs.
